The Acadian Entomological Society invites you to the 2011 Joint Annual Meeting of the Entomological Society of Canada and the Acadian Entomological Society to be held at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel, Halifax, Nova Scotia, from November 6th to November 9th, 2011.
Hotel Reservations
The room rates at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel are $149 per night plus taxes.The rate for a third person in the room is an additional $20.00 ($30.00 with a cot). The reduced conference rate (based on availability) continues to be available to ESC JAM delegates by calling the hotel directly. Delegates will not be able to access this rate through the hotel website, or through their Central Reservations System - only at the hotel level (Phone: 902-421-1000 • Toll-Free: 1-877-993-7846).

Program Highlights
Our meeting theme is Beauty and Impact – “Beauty” speaks to the aesthetic appeal of insects and the fascinating aspects of their behavior/ecology, while “Impact” covers the influence that insects have on society as pests, impact on all other fields of research, beneficial impact for humans and nature, along with the impacts humans have on insects.
The entertainment for this year's reception (Sunday, November 6th) will be provided by the Mahers Bahers, nominated for two Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2005. Following the stage show, there will be an open acoustic session for anyone who wants to join Mahers Bahers for some tunes. So don't forget to pack your fiddles, whistles, flutes, guitars, mandolins, harmonicas, bodhrans, etc.!

Any registration after November 2nd must be at the JAM Registration Desk and payment only in cheque or cash will be accepted.

Deadlines
August 15 – The deadline for title/abstract submissions for the Joint Annual Meeting of the ESC and AES has been extended! The new deadline for abstracts is 15 August 2011. Be sure to get those abstracts in and don’t forget to renew your memberships first!
September 1st – Deadline for early registration fees
September 23rd – T-Shirt orders
October 5th – Deadline for hotel room registration. It is advisable to book your room early!
